The first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has been hailed as 'epic' and 'amazing' by film fans on Twitter.

Starring Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, the film follows his journey to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the dragon Smaug.
Sir Ian McKellen reprises his role from The Lord Of The Rings as Gandalf, while Cate Blanchett plays the Elf Queen Galadriel and Elijah Wood appears again as Frodo Baggins.
James Nesbitt, Stephen Hunter, Graham McTavish, William Kircher and Jed Brophy join the cast as some of the dwarves who will be accompanying Bilbo on his quest.
Fans took to Twitter to praise the new trailer for The Lord Of The Rings prequel, which was released a year before the film is due out.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, directed by Peter Jackson, will be released in December next year, with second instalment There and Back Again due out in 2013.
